Stem Cell Therapy— Done Right, From Your Own Body
Stem Cell Therapy, Without the Hype
Few treatments in medicine are surrounded by more marketing noise than “stem cells.” Florida in particular has seen clinics sell injections of purchased products, sometimes containing no living cells at all, with promises no honest physician would make. So let’s be precise about what we offer: bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC), drawn from your own hip bone, concentrated in our office the same day, and delivered into your joint or tendon under ultrasound guidance by a double board-certified physician. Nothing purchased. Nothing pre-packaged. Your biology, precisely applied.
What Is BMAC?
Bone marrow is your body’s richest accessible source of regenerative cells, including mesenchymal progenitor cells, platelets, and growth factors.
Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate harvests mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) directly from your iliac crest. MSCs are multipotent, they can differentiate into cartilage, bone, and tendon cells. They also release anti-inflammatory cytokines and growth factors that reduce joint degeneration. Only cells from your own body are used, eliminating rejection risk while delivering the body's most regenerative cell population.
In a BMAC procedure, Dr. O numbs an area of the back of your hip, draws a small amount of marrow (most patients report pressure more than pain), concentrates it by centrifuge, and injects it into the target joint or tendon, all in a single visit of about an hour.
How MFAT Works
Microfragmented Adipose Tissue uses the FDA-cleared Lipogems® system to mechanically process a small fat sample, preserving the stromal vascular fraction (SVF), which contains regenerative cells, growth factors, and anti-inflammatory agents within an intact adipose niche. This structural integrity is what makes MFAT uniquely effective for joint arthritis, providing both cellular and mechanical regenerative support.

Who Is a Candidate?
The Honest Evidence Picture
Research on BMAC for orthopedic conditions is promising and growing, studies show meaningful pain and function improvements for many patients with knee arthritis, but it is not a cure, it does not regrow a new joint, and results vary. The FDA permits same-day use of your own minimally manipulated tissue but has not approved BMAC to treat specific orthopedic conditions. Any clinic that tells you otherwise is selling, not practicing medicine. You’ll get our honest assessment of your likely outcome before you commit.
Why Have It Done Here
Why Cash Pay Patients Often Pay Less Than Insured Patients
- No deductibles to meet before coverage kicks in
- No surprise balance bills weeks after your visit
- Transparent pricing discussed upfront, before any procedure begins
Most patients with insurance assume their coverage protects them from high costs. But under high-deductible plans, which cover most commercially insured Americans, you’re often paying $3,000–$8,000 out of pocket before insurance covers anything. Our cash pricing is transparent, immediate, and in most cases lower than what you’d actually pay after insurance for a surgical alternative. You know exactly what you’re paying before we start. That’s not how healthcare usually works, but it’s how it should work.
Why doesn't insurance cover PRP and stem cell therapy?
PRP, BMAC, and MFAT are excluded by all US insurers and Medicare due to regulatory classification — not lack of evidence. Steroid and viscosupplementation injections are Medicare-covered. Transparent cash pricing often makes advanced treatment the smarter financial choice — even without insurance. Medicare accepted for all covered orthopedic services.
Answers from Dr. Ogunsola
The questions Treasure Coast patients search most — answered with the same honesty you'll get in the office.
How much does stem cell therapy cost?
BMAC procedures are self-pay, and cost depends on the joints treated. You’ll receive exact, all-inclusive pricing at your consultation — before any decision. Beware of clinics quoting prices over the phone without examining you.
Does Medicare cover stem cell therapy?
Medicare and commercial insurers do not currently cover BMAC or PRP for orthopedic conditions. Your evaluation and many other treatments we offer may be covered; biologic procedures themselves are self-pay with transparent pricing.
Is stem cell therapy painful?
The marrow draw sounds worse than it feels — with proper numbing, most patients describe pressure and soreness similar to a deep bruise for a few days. The injection itself is ultrasound-guided and brief.
How do I avoid stem cell scams?
Ask three questions: Where do the cells come from (your own body, or a purchased vial)? Who performs the procedure (a board-certified physician, or staff)? And will they tell you the evidence honestly (including what it can’t do)? If any answer is fuzzy, walk away.

PRP and BMAC are autologous treatments performed under FDA regulations for same-day use of a patient’s own tissue; they are not FDA-approved to treat specific orthopedic conditions.
